Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Maji Moto, Meet the Maasai, Nature-Walk, Camp-Fire Stories
Travel to Maji Moto│Meet the Maasai Tribesman │Nature-walk │ Camp-fire stories
At 8:00 am, start your safari. Travel into the land of the Maasai to Maji Moto (3-4 hours). Nestled on a hilltop and overlooking vast savannah plains, you will meet with the real Maasai tribesman. In the afternoon, have a guided nature-walk. In the evening, enjoy campfire stories.

Maji Moto Eco Camp & Village
Maji Moto Eco Camp is a small, environmentally-sensitive retreat. Operated by Maasai people from the nearby village of Maji Moto, a stay here will immerse you not only in the intense natural beauty of the Loita Hills but also in the ancient culture and knowledge of the Maasai. The name ‘Maji Moto’ means ‘Hot Water’, and this refers to the natural hot spring near the camp (1km). Surrounded by trees, a dip in the spring at evening hours is a refreshing way to soak away the day’s exertions.
Day 2: Start the Trekking / Hiking / Walking Adventure
Day out on a walking safari in the company of a Maasai guide.
Start your walking adventure into the Loita Hills, to spend days in the African wilderness guided by local Maasai tribesmen.
Walking with the Maasai
Depart Maji Moto on foot in the company of your guide. The full expedition and the camp travel along as you move. Support vehicle carries camping gear, food supply and kitchen equipment while guests carry their own day-pack only. The path will lead you through hills, valleys and plains of the Loitas. The wildlife population here is occasional, but surely, you will be rewarded by the presence of it on the way. You will be passing Maasai settlements, learning about their lives and culture. For your safety, we are taking Maasai guards walking along, together with flying-doctors evacuation services included.
Day 3:Walking the Loita Hills in Company of the Maasai

Your full day is spent on walking-safari, through Loita Hills & Plains, getting to know the African nature, wildlife and Maasai culture in depth.
Bush Camps
Each day your camp will be moved forward to meet you on the way, ready with freshly prepared and hot meals for your arrival. The camps are quite basic but equipped with everything necessary that you might expect from these rough surroundings. Camping chairs and tables are provided, to be served with hot meals. The tents, you’ll sleep in, are 3-man dorm tents, equipped with camping mattresses, pillows and bedding. Solar-camp-shower will be organized, except for the toilet which will be out in the vast nature of the Maasai. All you need to bring along is your day backpack (20lit) to carry your sweat-shirt, jacket and drinking water. All the rest travels with a support vehicle and the camping crew.
Day 4: Last Day of Walking Adventure, Return to Basecamp, Hot-Spring Bathing
The last day of walking will lead you back into our base camp, Maji Moto Eco Camp. Arrive for lunch, and the rest of the day is spent relaxing. We strongly recommend, evening bathing at the village’s hot springs, as they simply wash all the days of walking exhaustions away and its experience of its own.
About – Walking with the Maasai
The opportunity to walk with the real Maasai will reward you with getting to know their culture in depth. You shall learn about animal tracks and signs and edible plants and their medicinal use. Anyone who enjoys hiking would have no problem with this tour. The average hiking time is 4 to 6 hours each day. Our clients always admit that this was the highlight of their trip for sure!
Day 5: Full day Masai Mara Game-Drive, From/Back to Maji Moto
At 6:30 am, after an early breakfast, depart into the Masai Mara National Reserve for a full-day game drive following the Big-Five. Have a picnic-lunch en route. Return back to Maji Moto for dinner and an overnight stay.
Masai Mara National Reserve
The Masai Mara is one of Africa’s most famous parks. The wildlife viewing is superb throughout the year. The park’s abundant vegetation and regular rainfall support a huge population of herbivores, in turn attracting many predators. All three big cats are relatively easy to see. The yearly wildebeest migration coming through the park is one of the world’s most amazing wildlife spectacles.
Day 6: Travel Back to Nairobi
After breakfast, time to say good-bye to your Maasai hosts, followed by a drive back to Nairobi (3-4hrs). You’ll be dropped off at the hotel or airport.
When back at Nairobi:
If you need a hotel reservation, please let us know. Additionally, you can take one of our Nairobi guided Tours. Continue with the safari towards the Kenyan coast or into Tanzania. Catch a Train to Mombasa or a flight to Lamu Island, Malindi, Mombasa, Diani Beach, Zanzibar Island and Kilimanjaro. Let us know your wishes. We’ll sort it out for you!
